Nestled in Ancient Woodland

Danby Lodge enjoys a unique position, nestled in ancient woodland, to which no other property quite comes close. Have a look at the video below in order to see exactly how secluded and private the house is. We recommend that you maximise the video for best effect.

Danby Lodge was built in a commanding position on a high ridge to watch and control the surrounding woodlands, on the orders of Charles II. In 1668, when the house was built, the Royal Forest of Dean was one of the main sources of Oak for wood to build boats to oppose the Spanish Armada. On the left, as the video sweeps down the driveway towards the house, you can just see the beautiful old King Charles Oak tree located in the grounds. This tree is almost certainly older than the house itself and is one of the oldest Oak trees in the Royal Forest of Dean.

Keep an eye out here, as we will be adding more videos of the house shortly, in order that you can see what a unique and special place Danby Lodge is to visit and stay in. We look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful and special place.
